Dual Screen avec une carte vidéo nVidia FX5200

 Matériel : Carte vidéo nVidia FX5200 sortie VGA + DVI + TV, 128 Mo.

 Distribution : Mandrake Offical 10.0 AMD64.

 Resource : http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux.html

 But : Mise en place d’un affichage étendu double écrans avec une carte vidéo nVidia FX5200.

 Prérequis : Drivers nVidia installés.


Pour commencer, faire une sauvegarde du fichier XF86Config-4 en XF86Config-4.single par exemple. Ce fichier devrait se trouver dans /etc/X11 .
Le fichier ainsi renommé pourra servir,le cas échéant, à lancer la machine en mono-écran.

On notera dans la section Device la ligne Option "TwinView" qui va déterminer l’utilisation de la carte en dual screen.
Les lignes suivantes seront rajoutées à la suite dans la section Device :

Il va de soi que les valeurs sont à adapter en fonction de votre second moniteur. L’option TwinViewOrientation détermine la postion des moniteurs entre eux, ici, le second moniteur se trouve à droite du premier. L’option ConnectedMonitor détermine le type d’écran, CRT pour tube cathodique, DFP pour écran plat et TV pour téléviseur. Toutes les options sont documentées dans le fichier README.txt accessible depuis le site de nVidia suivant la version du driver.

Il est à noter qu’actuellement (à la rédaction de cet article), il n’est pas possible d’avoir une résolution d’écran différente pour chaque moniteur. A vrai dire c’est possible mais on "perd" le bas d’écran, il suffit pour s’en rendre compte de redimensionner une fenêtre en plein écran. A suivre...

Juste une remarque, pour ne pas "perdre" une partie de l’écran, on utiliser cette syntaxe :

Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024, 1152x864 @1152x1024"

J’ai ainsi un écran de 1280x1024 et un autre qui ne dépasse pas le 1152x864 mais qui fait 1152x1024 en virtuel.
